Buildings In this session you will learn how to break down the various elements of buildings into geometric shapes and create a lively street scene. Focus is on shape, pattern, colour and drawing lines with a watercolour brush.
Rainforest This session is inspired by our beautiful west coast temperate rainforests. You will learn to break down the individual components of the forest -including trees, branches, leaves and ferns to make a beautifully patterned painting.
Water Lillies This session is inspired by Monet and summer days! We will be painting water lillies -the flowers, the leaves and the water. You will learn some basic techniques that can make a daunting subject seem easy.
Flower Hanging Baskets Topic this week is the beautiful hanging baskets installed over Victoria this summer. You will learn to paint some of the individual flowers and leaves as well as include elements of the hanging structure.
Topic: Wildflower Meadow This session will focus on painting a wildflower meadow that will include a variety of flowers such as poppies, daisies, asters, cornflowers, to mention a few. We will do two different approaches to a meadow -one where the meadow fills then entire page and the other one that has flowers against a blue sky..
Topic: Rhododendrons This session will focus on drawing rhododendron flowers -from the buds, to the individual flowers and leaves as well as a more abstract interpretation of a group of rhododendrons. It is recommended that you have a tube of pink paint in addition to your regular watercolour sets for this project. Some suggestions are: permanent rose, rose madder or opera. If you don’t have you can use red instead.
