Watercolour Monday May 30

Topic: Wildflower Meadow
This session will focus on painting a wildflower meadow that will include a variety of flowers such as poppies, daisies, asters, cornflowers, to mention a few. We will do two different approaches to a meadow -one where the meadow fills then entire page and the other one that has flowers against a blue sky..

Topic: Rhododendrons
This session will focus on drawing rhododendron flowers -from the buds, to the individual flowers and leaves as well as a more abstract interpretation of a group of rhododendrons. It is recommended that you have a tube of pink paint in addition to your regular watercolour sets for this project. Some suggestions are: permanent rose, rose madder or opera. If you don’t have you can use red instead.

Watercolour Monday April 4, 6:30-8:30pm

The focus of this session will be on drawing spring flowers such as the crocus and the camas lily. We will paint different views of these flowers as well as put them in a meadow setting. Bring the supplies as listed in the link below but I would also suggest that you make sure you have a violet pigment in your set or in a tube as we will using violet, yellow and green (and many other colours to create variations of the aforementioned colours). A violet I like to work with is Winsor Violet by Winsor and Newton paints but there are lots of others that are good.

Please note: the emphasis of these sessions is on play and experimentation and not on getting an exact rendering of specified subject matter. The image shown is just an example of what we might might cover.

Watercolour Monday March 21, 6:30-8:30 (new date)

This subject of this session is painting: a fantastical wreath bouquet with a bird in the middle. The session will include step-by-step instructions of how to draw and paint a colourful bird and well as how to make imaginary flowers.
There are two simple bird outlines that you can download and use for your watercolour painting under the image below.
